Rush Run Philharmonic at the Yew Mountain Center

June 3, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Rush Run Philharmonic at Birds of West Virginia at the Yew Mountain Center, Saturday, June 3,  7 pm

Wake up with the early birds and walk through the forest as it fills with the songs of spring. Treat yourself to a healthy, educational, and fun getaway in West Virginia. Choose a comfy room at the lodge, a cheery room in the bunk house, or glamp (camp in style with access to bathrooms and showers)–depending on your budget and preference.

We’ll have a nice balance of outdoor classroom learning and free time for naps, excursions, crafts… This weekend will be fun for families and individuals of all ages, abilities, and expertise.

Our guide, Casey Rucker has studied birds all over the world and extensively in West Virginia. He has lead many birding excursions in the Appalachian mountains and is editor of Redstart, a publication of the Brooks Bird Club.

Course content: Basics of birding, birding ethics, morning bird walks, brief history of land use in WV, local habitats and bird guilds, breeding cycles, challenges of protecting and raising young, bird population facts and trends, birding around the world, WV breeding bird atlas.

We keep our programs small so we can be flexible to address the needs of individuals and the group. Let us know how we can make this weekend work for you!

Register and pay for the full program weekend, or come to the free keynote presentation Saturday, 7pm followed by the music of Rush Run Philharmonic. (Donation suggested for the band.) Register and learn more at www.yewmountain.org/programs.
