Wild Edibles Festival

April 18, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Get a “taste” of Pocahontas County! Choose from a variety of workshops and walks led by knowledgeable instructors and guides. Learn how to identify, collect and prepare the tasty and nutritious bounty of our wild edible plants. Make and sample wildflower teas, main dishes, desserts & more. Starts at 9 a.m. at the Hillsboro School Cafeteria. A program of the Calvin W. Price Appalachian Enrichment Series. For more information contact: 304-799-4766

The festival will offer many workshops including such topics as: Poisonous plant identification and what makes them poisonous (hosted by the West Virginia University Horticulture Club), identification walks, great culinary workshops (one presenter promises spring beauty corns, cattail shoots, pickled ramp aioli, and a variety of wild flowers and greens), and more!

“By closely observing Mother Nature, I know when the birds come and go, how deep the river is, if the buds are coming out on the trees, and the clean freshness of the morning air reminds me that each new day in the life of man is as clean and unsoiled as a sheet of newsprint without ink.” – Calvin W. Price
