Main Street White Sulphur Springs Summer Music Festival

white sulphur springs gazebo concertCome on over to the Old Mill Park (Gazebo) next to the Post Office this Sunday, July 26th from 2 to 4 PM, for an afternoon of summer lawn music and fun on Main Street, US Route 60, downtown White Sulphur Springs.

This is the third of six Sundays of music in the park, underwritten by Main Street White Sulphur Springs.  Each performance is free of charge, with cold drinks supplied.  Your job is to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and some family and friends.  It’s all FREE!

This Sunday the community concert sponsor is the White Sulphur Springs Rotary Club.

There are two performances today.  Starting at 2 P.M., Shanty Town will present an acoustic set of songs led by Don Delaney.  With banjo, guitar, fiddle, and bass, they present actual Americana, Appalachian, old timey music often flavored with Irish accents.

At 3 P.M. the locally recorded gospel group New Horizon (newhorizongospel.net) will perform bluegrass gospel music for the soul, led by Joe Howard.  Here are some comments from their fans:

  • Great blue grass, super originals, awesome singing
  • Heart-felt, original, well-executed blue grass
  • An excellent performance of original songs and extremely heart-rendering music
  • I was immediately was taken back to my mountain upbringing in the small church
  • Mountain church house gospel singing with a bluegrass flavor
  • Joe Howard’s vibrant baritone and powerfully felt original compositions drive this dynamic group
  • Immediately I was taken back to my mountain upbringing in the small church I was saved in and still attend. The spirituality and heartfelt musicianship is instantly recognizable and refreshing. [Their music is] a must for anyone who loves mountain church house gospel singing with a bluegrass flavor.

The main goal of the summer music series is to get people out and about in the village, and be in the company of other neighbors and friends, while enjoying local music performers.  At the same time, the sponsoring cohost organizations will be identified and their members will be there to say hello.  It is a way to get to know some of the people and businesses that serve our community.

Any questions please call Bob DuCharme, 804-357-5884.   See you this Sunday!
