The Appalachian Forest Heritage Area (AFHA) presents Jim O’Dell at the Darden Mill. Jim O’Dell is a musician from the Richwood, West Virginia area. Jim learned to sing as a boy from his mother, an old-time mountain singer. Jim plays a unique style of clawhammer banjo, as well as original songs accompanied by his guitar. A singer/songwriter, and an observer of life, his music covers topics such as life, love, relationships, dogs, and horses. Jim has spent his life as a professional wood chopper, timber cruiser, cowboy, and folk artist, spending many days alone in the mountains. These things, as well as growing up in the backwoods of West Virginia, have influenced his music.

There is limited evening parking at the Mill, but you can park on-street in downtown Elkins.
