The Laurel Mountain Ramblers – “an old-time string band from Elkins, WV. Steeped in the traditional music of West Virginia and Kentucky, they have performed and taught at Augusta Heritage Center, Cowan Creek Mountain Music School, the Los Angeles Old-Time Social, and more. Members are Andy Fitzgibbon (fiddle), Nate Druckenmiller (guitar), and Kevin Chesser (banjo).”
Michael and Carrie Kline – “a performing duet, the Klines mingle stirring harmonies with interweaving guitar runs and cross-chording to produce an authentic sound that captures and conveys the spirit of the people and mountains they love to sing about. From ancient ballads passed down through a score of generations to current songs of struggle in the coalfields, they address mountain music as social history expressing a level of truth seldom available on the printed page.”
Zig et Zag – “playing Cajun and Creole music of southwest Louisiana. Attracted to the traditional music styles of early 1900’s Louisiana house party music, this band replicates that sound with their twin fiddle style. Most of the Zig et Zag members have played together socially for 30 years, but formalized the lineup around 2010 for a series of successful Randolph County Community Arts Center Mardi Gras shows. Band members include husband and wife team Judy Condon on fiddle and Tom Hoffman playing guitar, internationally known fretted instrument repairman and dealer Bob Smakula plays fiddle, and the unofficial poet laureate of Randolph county, Kevin Chesser, on guitar. The driving rhythm of their waltzes, two-steps, and mazurkas will propel the audience to dancing and letting loose with a Cajun yell or two.”
