Sharon directed a dance company called Rhythm in Shoes for many years, her work blends traditional and contemporary approaches to dance and music.

On Wednesday, from 7:30 – 8:45pm in the Myles Center for the Arts Pit Dance Studio there will be a showing of Carry it On… (a dance for camera piece Sharon directed) followed by a round table discussion; “Working within a Tradition as a Contemporary Choreographer.” This panel will involve Sharon Leahy, Rick Good, Laurie Goux, Emily Oleson & Becky Hill. The film was created in honor of Wheatland Music Festival’s 40th Anniversary, and features Elkins locals Matthew Olwell and Becky Hill, and was selected in 2014 for screening at three of the most prestigious screen dance festivals in the United States: The San Francisco Dance Film Festival, The International Screen Dance Festival in Durham, NC and the Dance on Camera Film Festival at the Lincoln Center in New York City.
