Alderson Riverside Summer Concert: Allan Dale Sizemore

June 21, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Sunday, June 21, 6:30-8pm, is a celebration with music of WV’s Birthday, Fathers’ Day and the start of Summer. Free concert and birthday cake. Food available. Located on the Alderson Memorial Bridge.

Allan Dale Sizemore, of The Wild Rumpus and Black King Coal, has been writing songs for almost 30 years. At as early as 14 years old, he learned then that you only needed 3 chords to write a decent song, maybe less. Since then, he has gone on to write hundreds of songs, learned a few more chords (just in case), and spent time in Nashville writing for Music Row until he realized that they weren’t really interested in good songs, just popular songs.

He fronted the first Americana Appalachian Stompgrass group Rust Kings, became a founding member of the Americana Music Association, and had his songs featured as the national PBS Song Of The Week on All Songs Considered… twice. He has also scored a European Top 10 Bluegrass/Americana album (Rust Kings’ Hotel West Virginia) and been featured on the MerleFest Songwriters Stage. Not too bad for a boy from Trout Valley, WV.

Currently, Allan is the musical consultant/coordinator for the television show Barnwood Builders on DIY Network, which uses his musical compositions for 80% of the show’s background. In addition to playing with these powerhouse bands, Allan is working on a solo album while also getting ready for the debut from Black King Coal. His songwriting is varied in subject matter as well as style, from fingerpicked stories to full blues and soul, and whatever comes, he keeps an open mind.
