Pocahontas County Artisan Co-op

The Pocahontas County Artisan Co-op has more than 30 member artists and craftspeople working in two dozen mediums. Our focus on the region’s arts and crafts heritage has attracted a blacksmith, broom maker, basket maker, several quilters, and wood craftsmen making everything from spoons and cutting boards to clocks, scrollwork, dulcimers, and fine furniture. We also have artists working in watercolor and oil, photographers, jewelry-makers, and members creating specialty foods from local sources.

The Co-op operates a year-round gallery, The 4th Avenue Gallery of Fine Arts & Crafts, at 721 4th Avenue in Marlinton, WV. On Select Fridays throughout the year, we stay open late, hosting local musicians and poets and providing craft demonstrations that transform our gallery into a community gathering place.

Leatherbark_Ford_ExteriorDuring the 2015 train season, May 15-November 1, the Co-op will operate The Shops at Leatherbark Ford, located adjacent to the Depot at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. Once used as coal storage for the trains, these delightfully renovated rooms provide a charming shopping experience, where you’re certain to discover a locally handcrafted treasure. Before or after your train ride, the long covered porch is the perfect spot to watch a craftsperson at work. Follow us on Facebook for special event postings.

During the 2015-2016 ski season we will return to Silver Creek Resort on Snowshoe Mountain. Our Gallery at Silver Creek will be open 11 A.M to 7 P.M. Thursday through Sunday. Check our Facebook page for more details.

Throughout the year, the Pocahontas County Artisan Co-op works to advance awareness of our rich arts and crafts heritage through scholarships, workshops, art shows and special events. Come see us in Marlinton, Cass, or Silver Creek and find out more!
